What Is A Theme?

Simply put themes are predesigned blog templates with an easy graphic user interface to manage your WordPress content. A Theme modifies the way the site is displayed, without modifying the underlying software. A well designed template can immediately put a professional look on your blog.(nerve center)

There are 1000′s of free templates in the administration area of your wordpress back office to choose from. Or you can run a Google search on the internet until you find a theme that best meet your needs. However, I will caution you that not all blog themes are created equal.

Premium themes seems to be the preferred choice over free ones for the serious professional. Here are a few reasons why….

1. Free themes tend to have coding issues like cross browser compatibility. That’s when content such as images or type appear one way in one browser and sometimes inreadable in another say between Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safai, & Internet Explorer.

2. All too often free themes have very limited functionality or flexibility.
For example you may limited on how to customize: header, blog width, collums, colors or add certain widgets that may aid in SEO capabilities , as well as visitor participation.

3. However, there are some good free ones out there but they usually require technical ability to make them come to life.
